A German favorite treat. It’s called Spaghettieis or Spaghetti ice cream. My family and I have been buying this delicious treat for the past couple of years at our favorite gelateria. Although more popular in the summer months, there is no specific season for eating Spaghettieis. We’ve eaten it in the winter months.
Spaghettieis is sold in most Eis cafes in Germany. It usually consists of vanilla flavored gelato put through a spaetzle press to make it look like spaghetti noodles. Strawberry sauce is drizzled on top to make it look like marinara sauce. White chocolate shavings, crushed almonds, or coconut flakes are added to give the appearance of parmesan. Whipped cream and a thin wafer are also added (I think it’s for more flavor and texture). Today, I appreciate this delectable frozen goodness that has brought happiness to my family. Guten Appetit!
