Traveling is fun but there’s nothing like the feeling of being home. I get this feeling as soon as the train stops at the Herrenberg Bahnhof or when my car passes the sign on the side of the road that says Herrenberg. Its hard to describe this feeling. It’s like a big sigh of relief. No matter how tired I am, the feeling subsides after I get to our town.
My family was going to stay home today after traveling for the past week. We decided to take a quick walk just to be part of the ‘busyness’ that a sunny day brings. People are out and about taking advantage of the sunshine. There are people riding bikes. Kids are playing in the streets and by the fountain. Friends gather at cafes to sit, talk, and enjoy their cakes and coffees. There are people looking down at the Marktplatz (market square) from the bell tower of the Stiftskirche and the gelato line gets longer by the minute.
It’s a good feeling to have somewhere to come home to. There’s no place like home.
